Easy Way to make a Bootable Clone of your macOS System Drive

There are many options you have for cloning and backing up your Hackintosh. The most popular choices are Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) and Super Duper. Those two apps do not clone the EFI partition. It's not that these apps can't do this, it's simply because they choose not to. Here's CCC's definition of EFI from their glossary:

EFI Partition

The EFI partition is an Apple-proprietary partition. That...

VisionTek AMD Radeon RX560 4gb Low Profile "true single slot" Graphics card

VisonTek has produced a true Single Slot graphics card that is capable of running macOS Sierra-Catalina for the SFF market. The size of this card is about the size of a GT210, GT710 with a very small single fan. It has 4 Mini Displayports and can handle 4k. This has been a long awaited card for the "niche" miniITX build Hackintosh community.

GPU recommendation to update Z170x i7-6700K

Hey there,

I am looking to update said setup – Z170x i7-6700K - which was running a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 so far. With 10.12 the system worked fine. But for more recent updates of Adobe Premiere Pro etc. a newer macOS is needed and after High Sierra the GPU is not supported anymore. Therefor I am looking to update the GPU and keep the other parts.

- Does that make sense, or is there a problem with the Motherboard or chipset as well?
- What GPU would you recommend? The machine is used...

Hey guys, sorry if this was posted before but I tried searching through the forum but still wasn't confident. So here's the question.

I am currently using a macbook pro for work that is provided by my company, but might not have access to it anymore. I work in music production and mainly work on my mac. Currently I have a PC that I use for general purposes, gaming and some editing, was wondering if it will be possible to dual boot mac os out of it. It's currently a 6700k with a gtx 1070 in...

Radeon HD 5570 Hackintosh

Hello everyone,

I've built a new system a month ago with an i5-9400, 16GB of RAM and re-used my old radeon hd 5570.

I was thinking of doing Hackintosh but I see that to use my GPU I'd have to use High Sierra or lower since it doesn't support Metal.

Other solution is to use my iGPU but I'd rather use my GPU if possible, regardless if needed to use older macOS version. I've been searching about compatibility and how it works, but didn't find much. Wondered if you guys knew a possible solution.

What macOS version should i use?

Background
It's been around 8 years since my first build, using Snow Leopard 10.6, and another machine especially built for Hackintosh, as a daily driver (Z68 MB and Mountain lion i think). I then used Macs professionally and didn't need a personal computer at all. Now it's time to get my own machine, and I wanted it to be a Hackintosh since I'm bound to the macOS ecosystem. I needed a fairly priced machine and started to check buying guides to get the best suited machine for my...

ASUS X299 Monterey Support

Introduction
The X299 Monterey Support thread is meant for support/discussion of ASUS X299 motherboards running on OpenCore. Since most user builds are on ASUS motherboards, other manufacturer systems (Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, EVGA) may not receive as much support. Although this thread does not include a full guide, I have setup a github repo based on my personal build that ASUS users can use as a reference.

Mac Pro 1.1 Hackintosh Z390 Designare Build 2021

Hello to everyone reading this.

I always wanted to build my very first PC/hackintosh in a iconic Mac Pro. So, after many years looking on this forum how others did it, I started to look for the things I needed for the build.

First I found the Mac Pro 1.1 case that was already been striped of the inside.

But later on I bought a working one that was sadly dead because the RAM stopped working. So I had the parts I didn't have from the first case plus, if I made a mistake I had a spare case...

macOS Monterey USB Won't Boot From BIOS

Hello,

I am a seasonal Hackintosh builder and I want to try out Monterey. After creating my USB (I'm using clover), my pc won't boot from the USB. After selecting the USB from the BIOS my screen turns black and I get kicked back into the BIOS. Any ideas? I bet there was an issue with making the USB bootable in terminal but that's just a guess.

Upgrading from Sierra with old Clover and IONVMeFamily Patches

I wonder if anyone has previously encountered or solved this very specific problem. I'm currently on macos Sierra (10.12.6) using Clover r4173. I want to upgrade Clover to a newer version (r5138) so that I can upgrade to Big Sur. The problem is that I have a B250 chipset and an m.2 NVME SSD -- under Sierra, this means that I need the IONVMeFamily Pike R. Alpha Patches to allow booting. With my ancient version of Clover, I've been using <KextsToPatch> to install the patches, and it's...
