Sapphire Nitro Radeon RX480 with systems above Sierra?

Hi,

I have a Sierra build and haven't been using this card because of the issues getting it to work in Sierra (like needing to first boot to the built in video, then switching cable, etc) as well as with FCP X.

Was wondering if there are newer systems for which this card works fine, and for which the card and FCP X are behaving nicely with one another.

[Success] Radeon RX 6800 XT - Big Sur

Just got the card in the mail this morning.

It is replacing a 5700 XT which was working fine on Big Sur, OpenCore 63.

The rest of my system:

I7-8086k
MSI Z370I

The last system log shows a « PerfPowerService » error, unauthorized client on AMDRadeonX6000_AmdGpuWrangler in the pci-bridge@0 configuration.


I have tried the following so far:

- Forced my pci bus to 3x
- removed agdpmod=pikera, tried to re-add it, change definition to MacPro1,1 via board-id.
- Added an iGPU in the BIOS

SMBIOS and Catalina - my Skylake 6700 system showing 14.2 and blank fields

Hi,

I have a Catalina setup with Intel 530 GPU enabled in BIOS, and my RX 480 set as the primary GPU. From what I understand, a dual GPU system where the OS uses the Quick Sync technology is 17.x or above. In Clover Configurator under SMBIOS I only my system as 14.2, which certainly doesn't fit. Every other field is blank. This is based on USB Unibeast boot drive. I don't have Clover on my Catalina drive yet. First I am trying to get the USB EFI Clover settings squared away.

Problem with Native Access

Hi,

Native Access from Native Instruments is crashing when I try to launch it on my system.
It's a Mac Pro 5,1 built, 2x3.33 x5680 CPUs, RX580 8GB Pulse Radeon graphics. I'm running Mojave 10.14.6

I think it could be due to graphics. as you can see from the below portion of the crashlog (esp lines 13-15 on the crash thread), but I have no other issues and my system has been stable for a couple of years now. The same version of Native Access runs fine on a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air...

[SOLVED] diskutil list not listing external USB drive (all of a sudden)

I've been using a 2tb USB backup drive for my macos and it's been working fine. it's been some time since I used it, but now suddenly macos (mojave) is not recognizing it.

  1. I've tried running diskutil activity to monitor to see if there's anything going on. nothing.
  2. I've rebooted into windows and it shows up fine
  3. I've tried mounting it on my macbook air, and it's fine
  4. I've tried other usb disks and they work just fine
  5. rebooted many times

Any ideas what could be going...

Hey guys, I've recently installed macOS Big Sur on my brand new Asus Vivobook 15 X512JA and everything works almost perfect such as:

- All USB ports (A and C)
- Keyboard plus (Volume up, down, Brightness up, down)
- Trackpad
- Audio Jack Combo
- Mic
- Bluetooth
- WIFI

but when I boot into the system, my screen start glitching like 10 seconds on login screen and then it suddenly fix by itself, so I just want a little help here, because I've been looking a way to fix this problem...

Just got this in my inbox today. I knew it was fake from the subject line since I didn't try to pay for Amazon Prime. The other big clue was that it came to an email address I've never used with Amazon.

Some people that do get this may have just bought AMZ Prime (They send out tens of millions of these every day) some people fall for it.

This guide is intended to be a quick and easy guide(with pictures) to correctly configure your system SMBIOS.

Open Settings > Go to iCloud > Open Account Details.

Working system suddenly reboots immediately after login

Hi there,
my system was working well for over a year or so.

Since a few days it reboots immediately after login, at maybe four of five startups. I can see the desktop for 0.5 second, and then it goes black and reboots.
In the cases where it doesn't reboot, it runs flawlessly.

I tried -f boot parameter - same thing.

In safe mode, it crashes after a while with this text: IMG_1808.JPG
I'm using Nvidia web drivers, which worked well until now...

Any help is much appreciated!

Stuck at Boot Up

To make a long story short - I had to get my PSU replaced when it choked after moving to a new place. In the process of troubleshooting, I took the SSD's out of the tower and attach it to macbook pro to check if they're ok or not. I then sent it to the MicroCenter to check other hardware to be sure that there are no other hardware components being affected - they determined that it was only PSU that was affected (whew!)

But then when I put the SSDs back in and fired it up, now I get an...

I've built a hackintosh desktop before, but never a laptop. My son wants to purchase a macbook and I thought about building a hackintosh instead. I have not seen many posts where individuals purchase a new laptop with intent of making it a hackintosh. Any recommendations for highly compatible laptops?
