Brain fart on installing El Capitan on a Dell Inspiron 15R 5521

Hello folks,

I'm having a major brain fart on installing El Capitan on my Dell Inspiron 15R 5521. I am currently running Yosemite on it and it works rock-solid. When I try to install El-Capitan (on a new hard drive that does work, even installed Linux, Windoze, etc on it to make sure the drive was good) I get a blank screen right after the progress bar that leads to the initial welcome screen.
