I think my hard drive is failing

Hi,

I'm hoping to get some opinions and advice. My computer has been doing strange things. Some apps don't fully launch (Visual Studio always hangs on "Loading...", iTunes often hangs on opening, etc.). And other weirdness, Disk Utility never finishes loading and hangs on "Loading disks". The computer wont fully shutdown, I have to hit the restart button, then choose "Shut Down" on the log in screen.
