My Mackintosh was running relatively issue free for the last year or so until my latest update to 10.11.5. When plugging in my iPod for the first time after the update my system crashed and rebooted. After the reboot and logging back in, I noticed that many of the Apple applications (Safari, Mail, Calendar, etc) along with Chrome will crash as soon as i try to open them.
Since I can't login to a web browser or email I'm not able to copy the error logs but all of them seem to have...
