I got my retail Apple DVD of Snow Leopard to install using iBoot + DVD. I used the PCIRootUID=1 boot flag. When the install finished the machine restarted automatically and hung at the boot screen. So I decided to start over, reformatting the HDD using Mac format, GUID etc. I first tried the PCIRootUID=1 -x boot flag but got a kernal panic. I tried again without the -x switch and the install went slick as snot on a doorknob. Unfortunately the PC rebooted again and hung at the boot...
