This lifelong Mac user/buyer (since 1986) gave up on waiting for Apple to release a 'basic' laptop. Something that simply surfed, emailed, Netflix-d -- all without breaking the bank. I know an iPad kinda does this, but without mouse support and a bigger screen it also DOESN'T do this.
I had hopes for the new MacBook to be something like the ZenBook 305 -- since they have nearly identical spec. I knew Mac wouldn't release such an item for $699 -- but I presumed they wouldn't...
